Dragon Age fella's chronicles

so i eventually got to play for an hour last night and thought i may blog my progress during the course of my adventures.

The game starts as you would expect with the character builder, human,elf or dwarf along with class choice warrior,mage or rogue.

i opted for a human warrior to start with his name is Gandalf

A brief story is told and off you go to find your brother ( i think it was brother i was half sleeping while playing ) anyway , on the way you met some dude who says your dog is causing havoc in the kitchens and this is a mini quest.

Off to the kitchen were the story unfolds youre dog is actually trying to help stave off a huge rat problem, your first fight with 18 rats begins, the combat is very simple at this early stage so nothing to add really.

After the rats are dead the dog joins your party and you are given the chance to name him, my dog is now called Frank.

Shortly after the castle is getting attacked and i had a couple of minor fights before tiredness took its toll and i saved and slept.

So Gandalf and Frank are awaiting my return to the age of dragons.

Ok another snippet, i have met my first dark spawn agressors and duely kicked there ass with the aid of 3 others who were tasked with the same trial as me, i needed 3 blood samples and to find some scrolls.

The job is done so i returned to camp and spoke to a prisoner, he tried to bribe food out of me with the lure of a key he had stolen to a magic chest.

I dont take to black mail too well so i killed the prisoner and took the key anyway Hahahahaha, the chest has shiny magical things in it which i cant remember what they were called.

Now i couldnt resist the lure of the zombie dlc for borderlands so i went there instead, fear not dragons waiting to be slayed Gandalf and Frank wil return.

Yeah that dude. Once I killed him 11 times in row and he thanked me for not hatemailing. Nice dude.

so i have to go to the tower of istal and light a torch to summon help for a battle against the dark spawn.

i journey to the tower with frank another warden and a mage befriends me there, some more routine fighting on the way up to the top of the tower and damn why cant i pick locks yet ? so many lovely chests i can plunder !!!!!!!

(side note : you never really feel like you are in control of the fighting, i have made different tactics for each party member , there are presets but i like to tinker but anyway it feels a little dis jointed to me but may improve as i move on)

Back to the story, i reach the top of the tower and there is this HUGE ogre thing quite scary too ;D and he/it wipes out my party apart from Frank.

So i assume control of Frank and he dominates the ogre and kicks its ass, anyway i light the torch and a cutscene begins and a huge battle takes place, the king is slaughtered by another huge ogre and Loghain betrays the king and does not come to help even though he see's the torch in the tower is lit.

So far the story is a bit of a lord of the rings rip off although not a bad thing some of the cut scenes have been pretty nice to watch.

Now i leave the starting area and out into the world map, i look forward to going to find the other races to help me in battle, especially the dwarfs ( why are dwarfs and mines etc so enticing ?)

also i have played approx 5 hrs maybe more and im just entering the main world map, this game is huge and if you like to ask every question you can and look at every single nook and cranny like i do you will love this game.

So much dialogue and so far most of it is pretty relevant, also the choices to remain neutral, good or bad in conversations is nice because sometimes you just wanna do what you want to not just follow a predefined path( although to complete any game it needs a goal its nice to have a choice how to get there)
